Philippine Aquatics Leaders Join World Aquatics General Congress in Singapore

Philippine Aquatics President Michael Vargas and Secretary General Eric Buhain proudly represented the country at the World Aquatics General Congress held on July 29, 2025, in Singapore.
The congress gathered key leaders and stakeholders from around the globe to discuss the direction and development of aquatic sports worldwide. A major highlight of the event was World Aquatics’ strong commitment to sustainability, as it aligned its strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
Recognizing sport as a powerful enabler of development, World Aquatics identified specific SDGs where aquatic sports can create the greatest impact—spanning environmental, social, and governance dimensions. Through its sustainability Blueprint, the organization demonstrated how sport can meaningfully support global progress.
President Vargas and Secretary General Buhain actively participated in these discussions, ensuring the Philippines remains engaged in both the advancement of aquatic sports and global efforts toward sustainability and inclusion.
